Day 7 Wed August 16th, 2000

This is a big day for us. Today we are up at 6:30 a.m. We are going to pick up the kids from the orphanage and Carmen is taking us to Alti-Plano a community that is not recognized as a people group by the Mexican government. Sarah Bruner is sick. She is running a small fever and her stomach is in knots. We pray for her, but we are going to have to leave her at the church with Carmen West. A small group of people stay with Ralph at Pastor Tencho;s house to work on the project. The road is hot and dusty. On our way to pick up Carmen in TJ the travel time gets intense. We are all tired and grumpy. I challenge the kids to praise the Lord and we begin to worship on the bus. At first everyone is not getting into it, but then a spirit of intercession came upon us and the whole bus began to worship the Lord, we quoted scriptures on healing, the presence of God was stronger than we have felt on this trip. We are amazed when God shows us that there will be miracles today!
We get to the orphanage and pick up the kids and Carmen. We then travel on very poor dirt roads to the village. When we arrive there are people standing on the street to greet us. They are waiting for food. When we stop the clowns jump out and go around the neighborhood inviting the children. The temperature is over 105 today and there is no shade. There are about 70 kids and adults that come to hear what we have to say. The team sets up for the human video and performs it in the dirt street. The children and adults watch intently. Carmen stands up and preaches the word. She is amazing. What an evangelist. When she is finished 12 people come forward to get saved! YES! What we have been waiting for!

The teenager boys from the team pray with the little boys to receive Jesus. Clint leads them in a prayer of salvation. The others begin to pray for the entire crowd. People are being prayed for with healing power! We give out 50 Spanish Bibles in less than five minutes. The people are asking for more. We have no more to give them. We help Carmen give out the food she has brought for the village people. This is an experience of a lifetime. We don't want to leave. On the way back to the bus I find out that Josh Loveall is sick. He is throwing up outside the bus. We are very sad, Josh is our friend and we love him so much. He rides with the ministry folks in an air-conditioned van back to the orphanage. We drive to the orphanage and let the kids off. We then drive an hour and a half back to the church. We are having a Fiesta for the village today, and then we will have church service with the Mexican people.

Rhianna Hughes is the coordinator of the Fiesta and does an amazing job at organizing it all. She has the whole team organized to do different parts. There are games, skits and songs, and a Piñata for the kids. The evening goes without to much problems. We fix hot dogs for the people and eat dinner with them. The kids love all the candy they got. The service is a service of praise and worship along with testimony from the believers. Elizabeth, pastor Tencho's wife leads the service and asks Gary West to preach. He is awesome and brings a word for the church. He has to change the sermon midway when the translator doesn't know the word he is basing the sermon on! He is incredible. We enjoy the sermon and then fellowship with the church again.

We stay up really late and we are very tired. We sing a couple of praise and worship songs and pray with each other. Then I ask them all to go to bed early so we can get up in the morning and go to TJ.
