Day 8 Thursday August 17th,
2000
We are up at 7:30 am, but most are up earlier. We get the camp secure
and we leave for the trip. We are going to have dinner tonight made
by Elizabeth, Carmen and Jorge, Eliazare and David and his wife. We
are so excited to get to talk with them for the last night we are
there.
We drive into TJ for shopping and split apart
into groups with guys and girls. We spend a few hours seeing the
sites and talking to the people. I enjoy talking about God to the
vendors. Josh and Sarah are feeling better now. That is good. We shop
some more. The vendors give me a few good deals to take back to the
states with me
the barter thing is cool. We get back on the bus
with several packages and make our way back to Cerrelazul. We stop
for water and make our way back to the church. When we get to the
church I notice a demon-possessed man talking to the air about three
blocks from the church. He is crippled up and out of his mind. He
starts heading towards us. I pay no notice at first when he sits on a
big rock outside the driveway of the church. I say a small prayer
under my breath for him and ask God to have the team of kids notice
him. THEY DO! They begin to pray for him as they are working around
the church grounds.
Carmen and Jorge show up with 9 people stuffed in their van. Sammy, her son, comes with his fiancée Candy. Pastor Tencho and Elizabeth come and so do David and his wife. We are all visiting when we decide to pray for the demon-possessed man. So the whole team gathers around him and we begin to pray for him. It was like the book of ACTS. The demons manifest and talk to us. Sometimes in English and other times in Spanish. We come against the spirit of infirmity as his hand was withered and burned. He is not in his right mind, so we talk to him about making Jesus the boss of his life. We pray for him a few more times and then we invite him to dinner. He comes, his body feels better, but he is not free yet.

Sammy gets out his guitar and we worship together, after we worship I give him a bunch of my cd's. He is such a cool guy with a call on his life. I pray for several of Carmen's relatives and the power of God comes upon us. The Spirit is strong! WOW! I am exhausted as we say goodbye to the pastor and the others that have come. I love them so much, I don't want to leave. The team gathers around the pastor and his family and we bless them. We have a quick meeting and then we go to bed. The bus is packed and we are ready to leave at 4:30 tomorrow morning.
